Marijuana is a beautiful plant with leaves and flowers that come in every shade of the rainbow. Fields of marijuana resemble a shimmering sea of greens and blues. There are hundreds of variations on this plant thanks to the work of weed botanists. Although these growers are usually breeding for THC potency, this also enhances the dramatic appearance of the cannabis strain. The amount of chlorophyll and THC will determine what a specific weed strain looks like. You can find marijuana pictures online and in magazines that show off the diverse beauty of this exotic plant.

All smokable cannabis can be classified as either cannabis indica or cannabis sativa. These plants are very different both physically and physiologically. The indica strain of cannabis plants have less chlorophyll, which gives them pale colors of green, yellow, and white. The indica plants tend to be short and bushy. Here is a marijuana picture of a small indica plant,

  Indica Marijuana Plant

The leaves are wide and the buds are short. Although the buds appear smaller than other strains they are highly condensed. Indica plants can often produce 2 to 3 ounces per plant of these short dense buds. Here is a pic of the colorful buds that the indica plant can develop,

Indica Plant

It has the light colored buds and thick layers of crystals that the indica plants are known for.

Cannabis sativa produces plants that are equally as impressive as the indicas. In contrast to the indica variety these plants are giants. Sativa strains have been known to grow as high as 20 feet. They will basically grow as much as space allows. As a result these strains usually do better outdoors. The leaves and buds are also longer and thinner than the indica variety. Here is a weed picture of a tall and thin sativa known as Kaya Gold,

This is another example of the dramatic height you can get with a sativa strain,

Sativa Plant

The sativa plants have more clorophyll than indicas and will exhibit darker colors of green, purple, blue, and red. Here is a beautiful example of a sativa in top form,

Purple Haze Plant

Cannabis pictures can capture the intense beauty of the plant's unique differences.

Another type of weed that can be grown is a hybrid. This is a cannabis strain that has been bred from a sativa and an indica. These plants exhibit physical characteristics of both types of cannabis. This experimental breeding can make for some unique coloring and flower designs. These complex hybrid strains can easily rival the beauty of any rose or orchid. This marijuana picture shows a hybrid plant with characteristics of both cannabis strains,

Hybrid Plant

The buds are light and condensed like an indica, and the leaves are dark and spiky like a sativa. Weed pictures are a great way to identify the strain that you may be smoking. The physical characteristics of the plants and flowers make it possible to quickly identify the buds as indica, sativa, or hybrid.
