Growing your own marijuana can be a daunting task if you have no experience growing weed. But you can easily break the growing process down to a few simple steps. If you have a plan, and use time-tested techniques, you will end up with a high quality product every time you harvest. Before starting any grow operation the first things you need to consider are what kind of marijuana you want to grow, and where you want to grow it. Some weed varieties should only be grown in outdoor conditions, while others excel in an indoor environment. You can also find weed strains that do well in both environments. Once you have taken care of these preliminary details you are ready to stay the grow process.

There are a few basic principles to growing weed. Cannabis plants can develop into either male or female plants. The plant with all the THC loaded flowers is the female plant. Once the plants have matured to a point where they can be told apart, the male plants should be removed and disposed of. This is a crucial step, as the male plants can pollinate the females and ruin the entire harvest. Another important thing to consider is the strain. Weed comes in hundreds of different varieties and each have positives and negatives for cultivating or use.

Once you have selected the strain and the grow location you are ready to start the weed growing process. You first need to germinate the seeds. This is the first step in every guide to growing marijuana. It can be easily done by placing your seeds in a small glass of water, and then putting it in a dark space for 2 to 3 days. When the seeds are ready to be planted they will open and sprout small white stems. When the stems reach about half an inch they are ready for planting. You should use a medium size pot, filled with the soil of your choice. Carefully remove the germinated seed from the water and place in the soil, just under the surface. You should take care not to damage the seed or the stem, as this can ruin the plant. Once you have got you seeds potted they are ready for the grow room.

The secret to growing marijuana successfully is controlling the light and water. This is harder to do in outdoor conditions, so most growers prefer to work indoors. Less is more when it comes to both light and water. Too much of either can ruin your harvest and greatly affect the thc levels in your plants. You want to water the minimum amount to get the soil moist, then let it it completely dry out before watering again. You should use a high intensity light source, with a timer to control the light cycle. These items can be purchased at most hardware stores. Start with a longer light cycle, gradually tapering off the time as the plants mature. The amount of light and the length of the grow cycle will depend on the strain you are growing. The most important thing to remember when growing marijuana is that too much light, water, or fertilizer, will kill your plants.

Once the plants flowers have fully matured, they are ready for harvest. The buds need to be carefully removed, dried, and cured. The curing process just involves hanging the buds upside down in a dry space for several days to weeks. Once the buds have fully dried, they are ready for smoking and you will be rewarded for all your hard work.
