Fire, smoking would cease to exist without man's greatest invention. It's easy to take for granted the convenience of having immediate sources of fire at your fingertips in today's world. We have come a long way since man first set sparks to ignite the first flames, now with just a flick of a lighter we can accomplish this task easily. Although our purpose for the fire is different in present day, we can still appreciate its existence for other reasons than survival. Although, in terms of the lifestyle of a smoker a lighter could be seen as a necessary item of survival.

A lighter plays an important role in allowing us smoking enthusiasts to participate in our hobby of choice. In today's world there is a plethora of makes and models for lighting up. lighters come in all shapes, sizes, and forms and can differ in performance depending on the smoker. The most common would be the disposable lighters you can find at the front of your local gas station or convenience store. Normally alongside these generic lighters are butane lighters that work best in unorthodox conditions, such as windy conditions that would keep a generic disposable lighter from igniting.  For the most part these lighters will get the job done and they last a decent amount of time before running out of fuel. When you run out of juice, that's the end of these types of lighters. If you're looking for a lighter that has more bang for your buck try a zippo lighter. This apparatus takes a lighter fluid to ignite and comes with a lifetime warranty. Most people used this because of its ability to light in harsh conditions and the ability to refuel when the lighter is empty. Not to mention that Zippo lighters are aesthetically pleasing to look at and use.

Staying true to the identification of a weed smoker, the biggest problem with lighters is losing them. It's far too easy to misplace a lighter and stumble upon it days to months later. Some convenience stores sell small retractable leashes that connect you to your lighter, making it easier to keep it within reach. This idea can be modified to your favorite smoking location with a piece of string and some duct tape. Attaching one end of the string to the lighter and the other to, for example, the leg of  coffee table gives you a good anchor to make sure that your lighter does not go missing. This keeps it within reach so that you can use it, but not lose it. You can apply this methods to can of the three lighters I listed above.

I hope that during your next purchase your able to bring some of this knowledge to mind in making your decision. Remember to consider the "when" and "where" along with the "what" and "how" of your smoking activities to make the best of your smoking experience.
